Biography

Dr. David Carr enjoys and excels in the practical dental skills of restorative and cosmetic dentistry, but early in his career he realized that some of his patients needed more comprehensive therapy to restore their health and comfort. His search for answers has lead him from the frontiers of space (he recently served as Chairman of the Texas Aerospace Commission, where he worked to adapt NASA technology for use on earth) to the frontiers of holistic nutrition and the modern medical adaptation of the ancient bio-electrical healing techniques of acupuncture. In 2001, he was awarded the National Aeronautics and Space Administration Public Service Medal in appreciation for his work in making NASA-developed technology available to private industry in Texas.

He travels and lectures widely on advanced therapies for treating cervico-craniomandibular pain complexes related to temporomandibular joint dysfunction, occlusal dysfunction, myofascial pain, and headache complexes. Or, in other words, how he successfully treats TMJ using auriculotherapy (electro-acupunture applied to the ear), sonography, and a variety of other diagnostic and therapeutic techniques.

Dr. Carr is a graduate of Texas Tech University, and received his dental training at the Baylor University School of Dentistry in Dallas. He belongs to the following associations:

  • American Dental Association
  • American Academy of General Dentistry
  • American Academy of Cranio-Facial Pain
  • Editorial Board Member of the Electrotherapy Association
  • Scientific Advisory Board Member of Standard Process, Inc
  • Texas Dental Association
  • Capitol Area Dental Association
  • Society of Occlusal Studies 1976 to 1987
